Two Came Back

Interesting movie about survival and stuff.

Basically a crew of 5 people get somewhat shipwrecked and end up on a lifeboat in the middle of the ocean. And whilst they are out waiting for a rescue crew of some sort, they face their darkest moments. Seeing illusions. Being blood poisoned. Having sharks surround them and not having any drinkable water.

It was quite good. I loved how determined the characters were. And how the mother fought for her child. Melissa Joan Hart was quite good as well as Jonathan Brandis. I was a little amazed at how real all the scarring and the sun burn and stuff looked.

In terms of storyline, it wasn't all that great, but it's still an interesting movie about survival.

Back in the Day

Hmm... I dunno... I wasn't really into this movie. It was a little boring.

A black drama about the life of a guy who just got out of jail and is trying to straighten up his life. As he gets out, his father is murdered and he inherits the massive mansion and so forth.

But at the same time, he gets himself involved with someone he shouldn't be dealing with and one thing leads to another... someone gets murdered.

One of those dramas that teaches you about making the most of your second chance and learning to deal with certain thing, but at the same time, it was a little too homie for me. The drama was too trashy. I didn't like it. I just couldn't get into it.

Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Hmm, I don't know what I thought about this movie. It was okay... it was just... average.

I think it was meant to be one of those movies that sent you on a spiritual journey that teaches you how one should be at peace with themselves, even when they are going through hardships. However, I don't think it sent across a strong enough message.

I thought Kimberly Elise was fantastic at being a psycho. When she came back to take care of Steve Harris's character and instead she pushed him into the bathtub head first, that was pretty freaky. I have to admit, I never liked the guy anyway!

But they also had to throw in a heartthrob to even things up. Shemar Moore played the "nice guy" in the story that helped this mad black woman out of her pain. And sorry ladies, he doesn't go topless. I've heard what you all think of him!!

And then there's Tyler Perry. The writer and also the actor who plays 3 characters in this movie. Why you would want to dress up as a woman is beyond me! But man, it was just weird.

This whole movie is about a housewife who's husband has lost his love for her and instead of treating her like a human being, he discarded her as if she was trash, and threw her out of her own home. After having her alienated from the rest of her family, she had no where to go. She ends up at her grandmother's house where she finds her roots and re-discovers herself. It's an okay flick, nothing special. A lot of puppy dog eyes...

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Okay, so I'm a sap. But I liked this movie. Every character was so unique, yet, they all shared similar emotions and experiences.

Sure, it's a chick flick, but it's not bad at all! Amber Tamblyn's character was very interesting. Her character meets a girl who's played by Jenna Boyd, who has a secret. You don't hear about it until later, but it's so sad!!

Alexis Bledel battles an ancient family feud that's gone on for too long, that has split two entire families from one another. America Ferrera tries to understand how her father could remarry and where she fits in with his life, above feeling abandoned and betrayed. And Blake Lively, being carefree and strong, finds out that the loss of her mum has affected her much deeper than she had anticipated.

The four girls share something special, and as they find a pair of jeans that miraculously fit all four of them, they decide to share the jeans over the summer, mailing it from one another each week until the summer is over. They believe the pair of jeans is magical. You'll have to watch and find out what that means.

Only thing I didn't really like about this movie... was the fact that Bradley Whitford is in it. The moment you're recognised as a loser in films, it leaves a lasting impression! And man, I so did not recognise Nancy Travis at first. But she's pretty cool. So I say, give it a go, prepare to be slightly teary eyed, but it's a nice movie. Ends on a high.

Big

Another Classic.

I love this film!! Man, does Tom Hanks look young or what?!?! I loved the story behind this. Just the idea of waking up in a grown up's body. Though, it's when you watch it now that you're more mature, that you think, "hmm... they were talking about finger prints etc... and that social security number part was weird..."

But Tom Hank's acting was superb! It was like he really was a child trapped in a man's body! And when she wasn't all made up and had her hair out and was in the bottom bunk of the bed... man did Elizabeth Perkins look adorable or what!

Basically, a boy is at an amusement park and he makes a wish to be "big". When he wakes up the next morning, he's transformed from a child to an adult and his mum freaks out when she sees him but doesn't recognise him. So he leaves his home and tries to live on his own. He experiences so many different problems and fears and tries to make it as an adult whilst they try and track down the wish machine. He ends up getting a job and from there, things start to get interesting! Very very fun movie to watch!! Though when you think about it... she had sex with a 13yr old!!!

Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit

Ahh, another one of my favourites!! And like you couldn't tell this was coming next!! :P

Even though I own the DVD, I watched this on the box as it was showing on free to air. I love it. Whoopi Goldberg still cracks me up! Kathy Najimy is freaky... man... she's so hyper active! Hard to imagine her as that now!!

But what I loved about this movie, was the introduction to a few of my favourite singers. Lauryn Hill was in this. She's such an amazing artist! Ryan Toby... who is now a famous song writer and also apart of a boy band... And Jennifer Love Hewitt. Yes... that's right! Here's where she first started singing!! :P

There were so many talented people in this movie! Man, I hope most of them scored some sort of record deal in some point of their career. But I loved this movie. So uplifting and upbeat. I love music. Sure, the story was a little weak and stuff, but I loved it all the same!!!

Sister Act

I love this movie. I don't know how to explain it, but I do. The sequel was going to be on the box the next evening... so I thought, what the heck... I'll watch this tonight!

Whoopi Goldberg is awesome. I've always found her funny. She's so multitalented. And to think that was Kathy Najimy! Wow. Those dance moves are to die for! LOL!!

But it was a fun movie! Imagine having to hide in a convent for a while because you're being chased by the mob? And while you're there, you might as well whoop the choir into shape and revive the church while you at it!

It was funny seeing how the nuns use guilt and god to their advantage as well... like that "free" helicopter ride! Hahaha. I dunno, I just like this movie. Maybe it was the music. That Heavenly music... it called! :P

And I love how Maggie Smith says "boogie woogie on the keyboard". It sounded so funny!! But Sister Mary Roberts... well... you disappoint me!!! Especially when I found out it wasn't really you who sang... but a voice over!!!! >:|

Monster in Law

What was I thinking when I went to watch this movie?!?!

Once again, Jennifer Lopez plays the victim... the poor girl who's parents died and she's doing it on her own etc... I'm so sick of it... what's worse is that her acting in this movie seems to have gotten to the point where she's just juvenile!! It was really.. poor... a lot of hee hee's and haa haa's... More like... too much from her side!!

Jane Fonda was cool. This was like... her first movie in 15 years and boy did she look good for her age!! Michael Vartan didn't really have that big a role in the movie... Though, I did quite like Wanda Syke's character. She was definitely funny.

Basically... as the title suggests... the mother and law and the bride to be just don't get along and they try to ruin each other. Watch what they do!

Best scene in the entire movie: Watching J. Lo get face slammed into the cake repeatedly!!

Serendipity

You know... I actually like the word Serendipity... well... how Kate Beckinsale says it anyway. It's got a nice tone to it.

I liked this movie. One of those romantic comedies about fate and where one instance in life can change a person forever. John Cusack was alright, but I really liked Jeremy Piven. He's really cool. And yes, then there's Bridget Moynahan. Funny though, in most of the movies I've seen her in... she's always getting dumped... even in TV series...

And then there's John Corbett. I think he was the perfect addition to this movie. The video clip he shot for the song he did was super weird though...

But basically... it was about Kate's character and John's Cusack's character running into each other and then end up spending a magical day with one another. Only thing is, at the end of the day, when the moment that counted most came upon them, something gets in their way.

And after the task fails, they miss each other in that instant and their normal lives resume. Only thing is, one of their token gestures of fate comes back to them in a way that's most uncanny.

It's a nice movie. Give it a go!

Senseless

Hahaha. This movie is so dumb! I mean, I should have expected it. A movie with David Spade and Marlon Wayans... it had to be one of those stupid funny movies. And indeed it was!

Basically, a guy who is trying to juggle a billion different jobs so that he can support his mother and so forth, yet at the same time, get through college, stumbles upon a human test dummy research position where he's taking an experimental drug.

Side affect is... his senses are magnified by ten fold... except... if you overdose on the stuff... then you completely lose out on all your senses and become... senseless.

Silly competitions, school rivalry for the position at a bank... and various other little quirps... but overall, a super brainless movie that will leave you feeling silly!

Constantine

Interesting movie. I wish more of the weapons were used though.

A story of heaven and hell, and the forces of the human world. Supernatural powers and demons and angels. It goes deep into religion and talks about themes that people generally shrug off.

Keanu Reeves was pretty cool. It was weird not seeing him bruise or get really cut up or anything, but everyone else around him seem to suffer in one way or another. And although I don't quite like Rachel Weisz, I thought she was quite good in this movie.

To really understand this movie, you need to know a little about religion and how things are according to the bible. The names of each of the characters will resonate a little better if you knew. But I really liked the special effects! I thought that was pretty cool.

I'm a little uncertain about the scene where he tries to put his two elbows and wrists together to make that amulate symbol... not quite sure what was going on there... and then they completely forgot about the amulate as well... and I wished Lucifier was in Red... I think it would have been more dramatic.

Btw... the black substance on the hands... is Tar... ;p I say, give it a go... especially if you're a smoker... because this is one big -anti smoking campaign- movie ;p

The Green Mile

Fantastic Movie.

It's definitely something that melts you to your core as you understand what exactly happens and how things are sought out. It also makes you wonder at the possible amount of people who were wrongly sent to prison.

It is a story about a man who was found with two dead children in his arms and accused of murdering them. Only thing is, he was trying to save them. Convicted of murder, he was sentenced to death, and was locked away in a prison, with a green pathway, a mile long...

But as he's in there, miracles are performed and hope is brought to the people, yet... when you see what happens, you cannot help but feel all the emotions that protrayed in the moment. Tom Hanks was fantastic, as with Michael Clarke Duncan. I also quite liked David Morse. I thought he was a well suited person to use. Doug Hutchison was the perfect annoyance character. His looks, the way he talks... everything about him annoyed me. The casting director must have known exactly who he wanted to choose for this role because this guy was the worst!

It's a brillant movie. One that may leave you in tears... or feeling things you don't want to be feeling... but it was a brilliant movie.

Police Academy 6 - City Under Siege

Hmm, I'm surprised they took the series for a turn and went more serious than comedic. Because this movie was definitely not as funny as the others... the jokes were much less frequent, but even then, I quite liked this movie.

The stars that continued with the series met their match. It was quite funny to see. They all had an alter ego. And evil version of themselves. It was pretty good. I liked the action and the fighting sequences. A little lame, but really cool! Hehehehe. Kinda still wished Mahoney was around!!

Police Academy 5 - Assignment: Miami Beach

Okay... I didn't like this one all that much. Sure some scenes were funny, and most of the characters carried over from the previous movie, but because Mahoney was no longer in the flick... it just didn't seem right!!

The scenery was good, I give it that, but the story was weak and the plot wasn't all that good. I thought this was the worse Police Academy yet... of the 5 that is... I mean, they went to receive an award and ended up on a mission to say the least... A lot of old reused jokes too... And of course... no blue oyster bar!! (not that I cared!!! :P)

Police Academy 4 - Citizens on Patrol

I liked the sounds to the movie... and how they had a catchy jingle for Citizens on Patrol. This is also the last Police Academy that Steve Guttenberg ever starred in. It's also when I first saw David Spade in a movie.

Believe it or not, Sharon Stone was also in this flick!! Can you spot her?

I did feel as if it started getting really lame and at the same time, some of the jokes were still awesome. And if it wasn't for Lt. Harris, I might have enen disliked this movie! Hahahaha. But then you see the riding of the bike under water... and the whole rent-a-loo scene... and Callahan jumping into the pool... ooh yeah! Brings back fond memories ;)

Police Academy 3 - Back in Training

Ah, Another classic. I went on a Police Academy marathon so don't blame the posts ;p

This time round, it's the battle of the Academies. One needs to be closed... so they duke it out to show what they are really made of. Hilarious. The new recruits are funny. Most of them you've already seen before in the previous movies and some you just laugh at.

There are scenes that are just awesome... like when they took the jet ski and put it under water like a submarine. Classic moment.

The story and some lines were corny and lame I know... But I can't help it. I love it!!

The Interpreter

Wow, this was actually quite good. I liked it. Only thing was that it was rather long.

Nicole Kidman was really good. She sounded so fluent in all the languages that she had to speak and that must have been REALLY difficult. I think that's possibly why she had the book with her most of the time. It was so she never had to actually memorise the lines... but I'm just speculating here.

Sean Penn was also really good. His side story built a premise for his behaviour and the way he reacts to certain things.

The whole movie was very political but it was very good. Only bad thing about the movie was that it was super predictable... well... some aspects of it. Like... you can sooo figure out who the gun man was going to be and who killed who etc. I did like how they just made it very obvious at the end and confirmed it for people who may not have picked it up.

In general, an Interpreter over hears a conversation about an assassination... and when she confronts the police about it... she becomes the suspect.

That Thing You Do!

I love this movie. Not because Liv Tyler is in it, and yes, she is pretty hot yet sweet in this movie, but because it was really entertaining!

After watching this movie, I seriously thought The Wonders was a real band and this was based off a real life event, but I was sooo wrong!! It wasn't at all! That was super surprising!! It's all fictious!! Who would have thought that Tom Hanks would actually write/compose a song just for a movie and have a whole story about it. I loved it. It was fantastic!

I thought the cast was fantastic! The Wonders (One-ders... which was later read as O-ne-ders hahaha) was composed of Tom Everett Scott, Steve Zahn, Johnathon Schaech and Ethan Embry.

And to those who didn't believe me... Charlize Theron was in this movie!! Basically, this movie is about the rise of a fictional band and how their song made number one. But because of a conflict of interest and clash of ideas, the band split up and went their separate ways. Very interesting movie into the politics of the music industry. But a very fun movie to watch as well.

The Sixth Sense

I really liked this movie. Only, It was only at the very end when I decided I liked this movie.

The whole movie itself is really slow. REALLY slow. But the ending ties everything together really well and just makes it an awesome movie!

Toni Collette was really good. Her reactions to things and how she reacts and how she moves in general around certain things was so convincing. Which made the ending even more exciting. Haley Joel Osment was awesome. He was so convincing and just the way he handled things were so believable. And then there's his famous line... "I see dead people". That just freaks people out!

Bruce Willis was fantastic. He plays the doctor who's looking into a case where a boy claims he can see dead people. Only, there's a big twist! Watch and find out!

Lethal Weapon 4

I must say, I quite like this film. Not because Jet Li is in it, nor cause of the cool fight scenes, but because it had a really nice balance of comedy and action.

I did find Chris Rock a little annoying, but that was his character. And I love the misunderstanding in the movie. Hahahaha. That was pretty funny. Mel Gibson is always entertaining. I thought the movie started off really well. He's hilarious.

Danny Glover just adds that extra element to the movie. I don't think it would work without him. Rene Russo still has it ;p But the person I also found REALLY annoying and can't really stand anymore... is Joe Pesci... I can't stand his voice anymore. Then again, this is the last movie that he's done since 1998!

But it's a Lethal Weapon movie. Meaning, Smuggling, war lords, money. :)

Bean - The Ultimate Disaster Movie

I watched this again on TV the other day and man... I have to say... I'm soooo over Bean's character. His noises and stuff... it's just irritating!! For such an educated person, Rowan Atkinson loves to play a fool! I heard there's even a sequel to this movie coming out soon... Man... I really don't know if I can handle another Bean movie.

Peter MacNicol is also in this flick. I swear, until Ally McBeal, I've never really noticed this guy... but he's been in a LOT of movies!!

All I can say about this movie is that... at any point in time... just expect something to go wrong... and at the same time... expect him to fix it in some bizarre way or another.

A Lot Like Love

Hmm, it was okay. It wasn't fantastic, wasn't bad either.

One of those movies you can just watch in the background because there were really no big defining moments or grand gestures you need to look at or anything. I reckon you can probably even listen to the entire movie without watching it and still enjoy it... wait... no... you can't. Why? Because one of the characters is deaf and he has to sign a lot.

But after seeing this flick, I can honestly say that Ashton Kutcher looks really bad with long hair!! And Amanda Peet isn't as hot as I initially thought her to be. Oh well. It's all good. It was a romantic comedy, but wasn't all that funny. Just something mild to watch.

I say, give it a go. You've got nothing to lose ;p You might even learn something about how weird girls and their rules are...

The Island

Fantastic! Absolutely fantastic! I loved it!

Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson were awesome. Their characters were so believable and the way they played on each other scene by scene... there was chemistry there I tell ya!

I loved the humour that they threw in every now and then. It was fabulous. What I really liked, were the special effects and the angled shots. Like, a perspective shot from low angle on the train, or of certain other things... I thought it was awesome.

Basically it was about a company that was able to produce clones of real human beings, born into the world at the age of the original. They were developed to be used for spare organs when needed. The clones have absolutely no idea as to what's happening and their brains aren't developed enough to work certain things out until they are exposed to learning catalysts.

And, well, as you've guessed it, when they reach the real world... some things get quite crazy! Like that chase scene... man that was a little far fetched, but it was so "off the edge of your seat" type stuff that you didn't even stop to think why certain things were happening. The action was good too! A very enjoyable movie!! Definitely must own on DVD one day!! Oh... and how hot was Scarlett Johansson in this movie?? Dang!! She was soooo gorgeous!!

On The Line

Dud! Absolutely dud...

A teen flick that's just silly and stupid. One of those movies for people who just want to dream all day. I mean, first of all, it was by 2 guys from N'sync. Lance Bass and Joey Fatone. Secondly... it's about a guy who falls in love at first sight with a girl he sees on a train. Only thing is, he doesn't ask her for her number or anything so he puts an add in the paper.

His scumbags of a friend takes down all the names of the girls that call in and then pretty much sets up dates with all of them until one day, the real one shows up... except... she doesn't get him... she gets one of his friends and she thinks he's pretty much a jerk and he then spends the rest of the movie trying to salvage it.

It's silly. Emmanuelle Chriqui is quite hot though... and the cameo at the end with Justin Timberlake is quite funny... but the rest of the movie is just lame!

The only thing I can say... is that... the music was actually quite good.

The Wedding Date

Ah, a movie of the DM's. Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney.

Basically, Kat (played by Debra Messing) hired Nick (played by Dermot Mulroney) who was a male escort, to be her partner at her sister's wedding.

Only problem is... there are dark secrets about everyone that she's soon to discover. That... and she finds herself falling for the male escort... Seriously... like you didn't see that one coming!!!

It was a feel good chick flick... It's good to watch before you sleep cause it'll leave you all warm and fuzzy. LOL! It wasn't bad. It wasn't super either. Just normal.

Bad Boys 2

I enjoyed it. It was pretty funny and the action wasn't bad. But it was a little too flashy! I mean... when Martin Lawrence and Will Smith was surrounded by those guys in the beginning of the movie and they had their arms wide out... Come on... as if you would really do something like that... okay... maybe... but to be doing that through-out the entire movie... was a little ridiculous.

It was like... I've seen this before... they all use the same poses over and over again. But you have to admit... the Ferrari was hot!! Man that was a sexy car!!

And the addition of Gabrielle Union, that was good. I really like her. She's got that something about her that makes her really pleasant to watch!

Basically, this movie is still after the same villan that got away in the first movie. It was alright. Martin Lawrence got a little annoying actually, but I think that's just the way his character is! It's not a must see movie... but if you like Ferrari's and really well filmed car shots... give this movie a go ;p But the story was just okay and the action scenes were... hmm... partially unbelievable.

Police Academy 2 - Their First Assignment

Hahaha! I'm in stitches!! Lt. Harris isn't in this one, but the fool that is, is still hilarious!! I love it. I love all the Police Academy movies... well... most of them.

Same cast as before, but with the addition of the villian... Bob Goldthwait, oh, and not to forget, the idiot Lt Mauser... Art Metrano!

Basically, the guys are on a mission to clean up the streets and arrest a gang of misfits who's terrorising the neighbourhoods. What I loved the most about this movie is the shower scene... and who can forget the Blue Oyster Bar. Hahahaha!! If you liked the first, definitely watch the second! :)

Police Academy 1 - What an Institution

One of my all time favourite movies. It's corny, it's wacky, I love it!

Basically, misfits are sent to a police academy to be whipped into shape and the new recruits are all "dirt bags" LOL! It's silly, but it's hilarious!

Steve Guttenburg is awesome. His character gets into the most trouble and it's just fun. This is also the movie when I first noticed Kim Cattrall. She's awesome in this flick! I loved the scene where Mahoney is going "Let's have a look at those thighs" "But..." "The thighs!" LOL! Smartarse!

Bubba Smith is also cool. Like when he was first starting to learn how to drive. Hahaha. That was so funny!! And the car afterwards! And then who can forget Marion Ramsey and her character Hooks who's voice came and went... except when she's calling someone a Dirt Bag! Hahahaha!

Then there was David Graf, we'll miss his gun play. Leslie Easterbrook and her jugs!! Hahaha. Well, you know what they say... when you've got it... flaunt it! :P Michael Winslow is awesome as well. His sound effects were fantastic! This movie just had awesome characters. Awesome! George Gaynes was the easy going Cmndt... and on the other extreme, you have G.W. Bailey as the jerk who thinks he's above everyone. All I can say is... Neeeeeeeey~~! HAHAHA!

Evolution

A 1.5hr long Head and Shoulders commercial! LOL!

I have to admit, it was a still funny, but quite silly. It seems as if David Duchovny only knows how to do movies involving Aliens or some sort of alien conspiracy or something that's just... not normal... like a twisted phenomenon or unexplained occurances. Kinda funny really... but it also makes it seem as if he's never gotten over The X-Files

Seann William Scott is hilarious. When you first see him and the blow up doll. Hahahaha! So funny!! Comedic roles are so good for him. He's a classic goofball!

Julianne Moore looked sooo pale. Was it to suit her nick name in the movie as the ice queen? I dunno... but she was so white that you thought she was a dying corpse! I mean, fair enough, she wasn't all that bad... but she looked terrible. Nice Hair though... And who could forget Orlando Jones. When you see the bug crawl up him. Hahahaha!!! So funny!!

It was a very silly movie though. With the bugs and the aliens and the worms... the dragon like creatures... And then killing them with yeah... you guessed it... shampoo... It was just REALLY silly!! A no brainer... but quite funny.

The Bourne Identity

Hmm, interesting flick. I thought it was quite good. The sense of mystery and excitement was there when I was watching this. (when being the operative word)

Matt Damon was pretty good. The action scenes and the chases were really good. Julia Stiles on the other hand... well... I was expecting a little more. They made it seem as if she was well trained in a lot of things but never really explained her role, and in the end, she didn't really do all that much, but she did get a decent amount of screen time.

I thought it was well done. Fight scenes were alright and the story was interesting. I say, give it a go.

The Banger Sisters

I can't believe I stayed in front of the box throughout this movie... Thank god it was only Free to Air TV when I saw this...

Seriously... I think the only reason why I watched it was cause I wanted to see what Geoffrey Rush was going to do with the gun!

I do have to admit... Goldie Hawn is a complete fruitloop as well! Maybe that's why this is the last movie she's done in a while... But then again, she suited her character to a tee. Wacky, cooky, silly, outrageous and more!

Though, seeing Susan Sarandon as a wannabee hippy was hiliarous. Not that I'm into her or anything, but it was different to see her as a figure other than some boring old mom.

If you watch this... Free 2 Air TV I say... Free 2 Air...
