Hero

Hero is a really arty film where you have to appreciate it for the way it's filmed rather than the story itself. Don't get me wrong, the story was okay, but you have to just appreciate the real beauty of the landscape and the portrayal the director wanted you to see.

The movie was filmed in such a way that they used colours to represent each person's story. It was magnificent. Each colour brought a different tone to the movie and revealed another part of the mystery. Mind you, it is one of those movies where it's basically one person recalling an adventure. (In this case, more than one person, but each telling the same story in their own way.)

Of course, being a Jet Li film, the martial arts and sword play was excellent. Zhang Zi Yi didn't really have that large a part in this film, but it's good to see her doing more martial arts films. Her look is so suited for it.

I'm not sure if the Americanfied version of this film is any different from the original. I watched the original Chinese version of course so it'll be interesting to see what they would change for the American public.
